Debbie

Can you briefly describe your role in ensuring data privacy and its impact on your organization or community?

My role in ensuring data privacy and its impact on your organization or community include my goals with Data Privacy to always educate and bring organizations to practical operational solutions based on their needs and risk appetite.

Share a key aspect of your approach when building privacy programs and how it aligns with organizational objectives.

A key aspect of my approach when building privacy programs and how it aligns with organizational objectives include getting a clear picture of where a company is in their data privacy maturity, where they want to go, and how fast they want to get there is key.

How do you measure and prioritize data privacy risks, and what strategies have you found effective?

I measure and prioritize data privacy risks by using a triage approach and grade the risks. I also use strategies to have organizations figure out their privacy profile and what they want or want to achieve most and rank those things in order of organizational importance.

Reflect on a notable challenge in your data privacy work and the specific steps you took to overcome it.

Some of the most notable challenges related to privacy work is having organizations take a proactive rather than reactive approach to privacy. Data Privacy should be fundamental and foundational to how organizations build privacy programs. Companies who wait until they have a regulatory problem or a barrier to future business will not only pay more to bring their organizations up to a minimum level of maturity, organizations may lose business opportunities and customers trust while trying to play “catch-up”.
